Names: Kyo Takashi & Ume Kogitsune
Ages: 19 & 18
Genders: Male & Female
Appearances: Here
Personalities:The best way to describe Kyo is the perfect gentleman, but he does sometimes get distracted by Ume's beauty and general coy personality. He also has a very silly side to him, but it is very sweet. He likes to be referred to by Ume as her 'Kyo Teddy' and is like a spoiled child when it comes to any sort of affection from Ume. He can't get enough, he even grows jealous of his cat, George, when the fuzzball gets around to sitting on her lap and cuddling her like there's no tomorrow! He is somewhat protective of her due to all that had happened when they first met and makes sure to keep a close eye on those around them when he and Ume go out. He also has a fatherly side to him that is revealed more and more when Ume is around. He sometimes tends to get lost in thought easily and will fluster if caught off guard.
Ume is rather mischievous, in a good sense, though. She always keeps Kyo on his toes and wondering what she's going to do next. because of what she is, she is very curious about the human world and tries to learn about it as much as she possibly can. She is a sucker for stuffed animals and apparently has a great skill when it comes to Crane machine games. She is very affectionate, both physically and emotionally but she feels a bit selfish because she often takes up all of Kyo's time. Neither seem to mind, though. Naturally, she has a very motherly air around her and tends to treat most things or people in need as if they were her child, if they treat her with the right amount of respect. Her healing techniques are phenominal, although she is a bit paranoid about Kyo finding out.
Background History-Kyo had it rather hard throughout his life, living with a father that never seemed to cate about his accomplishments and what he wanted to do with his life. All throughout high school he had to put up with his father's complaining about him not studying to become a lawyer like his father was. Instead, Kyo was studying to become a doctor, a pediatric doctor to be exact, because he simply adored children and he wanted to help people. His father apparently wouldn't allow it.
Constantly, poor Kyo got his ear chewed off for it and since he lacked a mother (Only because she was always working and he barely ever saw her) that was the only voice of reason, even then his father's voice was no 'reason' at all.His father was a greedy man who wanted to make money, and that was what he wanted for his son but Kyo didn't want that. He wanted to be happy and enjoy the life he wanted to live. As he reached the age of nineteen, his father barged in with some disturbing news: He was supposedly going to be married to some wealthy girl he had never met.
Kyo was absolutely furious with his father's decision and continuously said he wasn't going to marry this girl. Angered, Kyo left the house for a while to get some air at the nearby beach. Instead, he found a girl in a tattered white dress, curled up and coughing out sea water like there was no tomorrow. Unprepared for this, he offered her his jacket and insisted on taking her to a cafe to warm up with a nice drink and a meal.
The girl hesitantly accepts and they continue on.He carries her to a nearby cafe and asks her all sorts of questions, believing that she had fallen off of a ship and lost memory of where she was going. The two start to spend more time together and Kyo ends up showing a more chivalrous side to him when he saves her twice from two perverts. Little do either know is that they are both escaping an arranged marriage.
Ume was born the princess of an underwater city. She was their mermaid princess, envied, loved, everything. Her father was so proud of her and always wanted to show off his daughter, but he started to grow worried about her. She didn't seem to be showing any sort of interest in any of the mermen at all and yet she showed a great love for children. At the rate it was all going, her father would be glad to see at least one grandchild before he would die of old age. Fearing that her daughter would never find the perfect man, he and his wife had found one for her.
A prince from a faraway mermaid civilization. Ume couldn't believe that her parents had done this to her. She felt shocked, appaled and overall deceived. So, on a whim she ended up leaving and making sure she left no trace of where she was going. She knew it was going to be bad because her father was no other than Poseidon, ruler of the sea. He was furious to know that his daughter had escaped and nobody knew where she was..Until one of her supposed friends had ratted her out and said that she was going to the human world, where in particular they didn't know. Ume knew that she needed to get away.
She couldn't possibly love someone she didn't know about at all. So, with only a white dress on her body, Ume made a run, technically a swim, for the shore. When she got on there she immediately collapsed into the sand, exasperated and not used to using her legs at all. It was then that she met Kyo.He was freaking out, unsure of what had happened to her. He was so concerned about her being cold that he offered to strip down to just his boxers so she'd be warm! She found great comfort in his kindness and immediately took a liking to him, but often felt rather guilty for all that he was doing for her, and he hadn't even known her.
As they spent more time together, they had a few small 'adventures' such as winning numerous stuffed animals, buying a pram and putting the animals in and being mistaken for a young couple awaiting the birth of their baby or babies.
After a while of them spending so much time together and growing closer and closer, Ume did fancy the thought of having a child with Kyo but never brought it up because of her fear of showing her real form to him. As time passed and she spent more time on land the more she wanted to become a full human and spend her life with Kyo..
Fun Facts: Kyo doesn't find out Ume is a mermaid until he one day accidentally walks in on her bath.At first, Ume has an unfortunate streak of clumsiness.
