Name: Zena
Age: Around 20-21
Gender: Female
Appearance: Here
Blessed with long locks of toffee colored hair and gentle orange eyes, Zena is an unusual sight for many people. She has fair skin and a fit body under the traditional kimonos she normally wears. She strings her hair up in a high ponytail with the help of a soft lavender colored ribbon, a gift from her father before his passing, and when that isn't the case, she usually wears two bao buns in her hair. Because of part of her heritage, Zena has mixed together the two elements as far as a priestess goes in order to create what she has been so well known for wearing.
History:
Zena's parents had always had high standards for her, seeing as they haad raised her in a tiny village where smarts would get a child out of working in the fields all day long or stuck in the house preparing food. Once they saw that she possessed a shockingly high amount of pure, spiritual energy, they immediately brought her to the town's priestess, a kindly, elderly old woman who took Zena under her wing immediately. The woman became like a grandmother to her and Zena adored her. She lived with the old woman but visited her parents a few times a week or every other week if she was completely exhausted.
She progressed very quickly, showing potential of being one of the strongest priestesses in all existance. Once her mentor felt she was ready, she allowed Zena to go out and perform an exorcism for a nearby village. She came back and successfully fulfilled the job. This brought great joy to both Zena and her parents, her mentor as well. But tragedy struck. The old woman was dying. Zena tried her best to save her but unfortunately nothing could be done, it was her time. Zena accepted this and fulfilled the last wishes of the woman wanting to be cremated.
She was now priestess of their village and a wonderful one. She adored children, took care of the young and the old, never discrimnated against someone for their gender or social standing. She fought off the demons with all her might and even when she had only so much energy left she gave it all to ensure their lives would be safe.
There were some days when she found she couldn't walk without swaying, so as a gift and small thanks, a few of the men from the village presented her with a horse. They urged her to take it and the two had become fast friends. Zena didn't leave anywhere without her new companion and vice versa. She named him Katsu, which meant Victorious. She felt it was fitting because everything the horse did, he did it with this sense of victory. Zena always felt so safe.
Things had started to grow even harder as she grew up, blooming into an intoxicatingly beautiful young woman. The village would be in danger more because of wandering demon eyes landing on her. Zena trained harder and harder, each night falling asleep and completely spent from the rigorous training, but still keeping an ear out.
She often did her best to protect the village, but none of her encounters with demons had affected her the way this one would. A young man had been posessed by a demon and it was up to Zena to purify him. She did her best, fought him off but felt that she had absolutely no choice other than to kill him. She felt absolutely horrible that she had to take away the man's life to save him and she even went into a slight crisis of morals for about a month before it took a good amount of villagers to coax her into believing that she had to do it to save his soul for the gods and deities of the area.
More recently, in order to save her own village and many others around, she offered herself to a demon who was threatening to steal and impregnate all the town women until he himself would have an heir. She went quietly, despite people's cries and pleas and knew that even though she was doing this for their sake, she would never be able to come back again once she would give birth to this demon child.
Extra: She is a priestess and holds no prejudice to any living being. She may cast judgment if someone is truly evil but she will help either way. She also lives on the outskirts of a little town, and will often play with the children on her visits or help out in any way. She also pronounces her name as Zeh-nuh.
Despite her normal attributes, her eyes are a lovely orange colour.
Even though she dislikes using weapons, she often carries around numerous small, hidden blades and her signature bow and arrows.
She has a horse affectionately named Katsu and was allowed to keep him during the demon's 'courting' of her.
