Name: Layla
Nickname(s): Tinker, Tink,
Gender: Female
Age: Old enough to be married...?
Birthday: Summer 16
Interests: Layla truly loves helping out people. When someone has something broken she does her best to find the problem and solve it. She is very determined and confident of her work, so she will never stop. When she isn’t working, she does like to look at blueprints and even plan her own, just in case she decides that she wants to start tinkering and inventing things, whether it is for herself or to give to someone else. And when that isn’t the first thing on her mind, she draws. Layla loves sketching things found in nature, and with that she is just truly in tune with nature and loves it, so it isn’t unusual to see her taking out a full day of her busy schedule to travel around and rest every now and then in a spot, book in hand, as she sketches out what she sees. It’s something that she sees relieves stress. When she finds that she is stressed and drawing will not help, Layla will meditate! Every now and then she will go swimming, but it isn’t too exclusive, why will be mentioned later.
Layla loves tools of any kind. Give her one and she is sure to love you forever, no lies. She has no preference as to what is her favorite food, but if presented with a gift she will graciously take it.. After quite a few minutes of trying to deny because she’d feel guilty afterwards. She also likes clothes. It may not seem like it, because she wears two outfits mainly, but she loves wearing them and trying out different styles. But because of how shy she is, she often won’t go out in public wearing them unless someone manages to persuade her of doing otherwise. She also loves animals. Give her any kind, whether it is to watch, take care of or keep, and she will treasure them like one would never believe. She does this mainly because she often finds that she gets a little lonely in her home. She also has a bit of a sweet tooth, roses are her favorite flower and she, over the years, has grown, lost, and rekindled her love of fruits, vegetables…Not so much. Layla has taken a liking to all of the festivals, she finds them to be all kinds of fun and can be seen literally counting the days until the next one!
Dislikes:
When it comes to swimming, Layla doesn’t like to be alone. She always prefers having someone else there. This is due to an old experience before moving into the area, it will be discussed in further detail later. She doesn’t tolerate rude people. Layla may not be the most assertive of people, but she will try to make her words stick the best she can. She also won’t tolerate violence , and while she doesn’t like it, this may be one of very few opportunities where she will take a wrench and bonk someone on the head. Which comes to the next thing, this is more what she dislikes about herself. When she gets aggravated enough and someone is there, she will often greet them with a hard bonk to the head with a wrench, not anything that will be life changing, but it will hurt. Also… Layla isn’t a fan of dresses, to be honest. She will wear them every now and then but often feels that that is not who she is.
She isn’t a fan of vegetables, often giving the excuse that they aren’t as uniquely flavored as fruits are. She becomes very livid when she sees someone mistreating an appliance of any kind, often because she’s the one repairing it once again, she won’t mind fixing it a few times if used properly, it happens, but to Layla, mistreating an appliance is like mistreating a person.
Appearance: Here
{ She is characterized to be very feminine, quite curvy. . . Under all of the grease and overalls, that is! Though it will normally be quite rare to see Layla wearing anything other than he signature black sports bra, overalls and other accessories, there will be days where she doesn’t feel like working. That would be when she deserts the cute head-rag, lets her hair down a little and will walk out in nothing but a decent sized dress and flat shoes, maybe a bracelet or two on each of her wrists. When not in working clothes, Layla is surprisingly pretty. The surprising part mostly stemming from the fact that it’s not too often, but that’s a given~ Now, as for the star on her cheek, that’s no decoration. But that will be explained a bit later on. And, as one may notice, her hair is a maroon color, and quite long, past her buttocks (When it’s down and she is nervous, she sometimes trips over it!), and her eyes are a lovely shade of dark purple. Talk about unusual!}
Job: All Around Mechanic. You break it, she’ll somehow fix it!
Pet: A small grey weasel she named Gumdrops. {She had the pet ever since she was a child and noticed he really liked eating gumdrops.}
History: {For those who want to read it}
Layla had come from a small, close knit family. Each member had their own unique talents, as family members often had. Her mother was an exceptional artist, always going out into nature and sketching out whatever she’d see, often taking Layla with her. Her father was a creative tailor, and her younger brother even seemed to have a talent when it came to taking care of both animals and people. It seemed as if, for the first few years, Layla didn’t have many talents she truly loved. She adored sketching and drawing with her mother, but each time she felt like there was something missing. Making outfits with her father was always fun, and Layla tried her best at helping sick animals and people, but nothing stuck. That is, until one day when the mighty wrench had come into Layla’s possession. One of the appliances in their home had broken, her mother and father were absolutely stumped with how to fix it. Layla took a look at it and was a pro at diagnosing the problem. That only started her love for it all.
When her artistry skills had become a bit stronger, Layla would spend her days in her room, not playing happily like a child would, but drawing it all out. What she could do, what she could fix. This opportunity gave off a certain feeling of completion, Layla would chase it thoroughly. The next few years were hits and misses with Layla’s family. She would be seen taking apart any and every single appliance in their house. Quite a lot of times she managed to put them all back together.. Other times it would end in a slight ‘disaster’. In the family book, the best ‘disaster’ was the failure of their oven, seeing as her mother’s official occupation was that of a baker. Needless to say, that day their house was filled, close to the brim, with yeast! As embarrassed as she was, her family laughed it off and helped her polish these skills. They were surprised to see that in only a small amount of time, their daughter would be known to tinker and even create things that the family would use to make their lives easier.
Every now and then the family would go and take a small trip to a nearby lake. Layla decided that one day she wanted to make a small boat for herself to sail through the water. It DID work.. Until something on the inside had over heated. Young Layla panicked, she wasn’t a strong swimmer. That day she almost drowned if it wasn’t for a water sprite that had come in the nick of time to save her. Because of that, Layla is a bit weary of being around water by herself. She is a stronger swimmer now, of course, but the feeling of being alone near it always brought slightly haunting memories of that day.
Soon enough Layla would let that memory tuck itself away In her mind, she pursued her goals. Sooner than she imagined, she was fixing all sorts of things, and even creating a few new things! Her favorite out of all of these would be creating small wind-up toys that walk. Plenty of those can be seen in a rather large box in her house nowadays. One day, though, Layla was working with something quite oily, she had managed to get a small cut on her cheek in the shape of a star. Oil had seeped into her skin when she wasn’t looking and, somehow, created that permanent mark. Layla doesn’t complain now, though. It doesn’t bother her, it doesn’t itch.. It was as if she had received a free tattoo! Though every now and then she feels a bit self conscious about it, and herself. She will have some days where she feels inferior to others, not for anything they or she has/have done, but she felt as if it was that old feeling of being left out before she found her love for mechanics.
Layla found that it was time to leave where she was comfortable with. She said goodbye to her family and headed off. For where? She wasn’t sure yet. She soon stumbled on Castinet and, needless to say, she fell in love with it all. She settled herself down in the Garmon Mine District and soon enough she set up shop for whoever needed her help, or for those that just wanted to visit.
