Name: Shruma
Alternate Name: Shima, in the human world
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Appearance: Here
Personality: She is of a very naive nature. Being that she hadn't really stepped foot into the human world, she doesn't know how to act. She has never stepped foot out of her village! That being said, she is under the great impression that people are naturally good and will push through their bad intentions in order to do the right thing, although her interpretation of the real world starts to change once her real journey begins. Nevertheless, her sweet, lovable atmosphere draws people in and makes them curious to get to know her, even to go as far as protect her because she is one of the sweetest beings to ever grace them.
Background History:
Even before she had been 'born', war plagued the lands that her people lived on. When Shruma started out as a mushroom child, she had been sent to a hidden away nursery with the other children of her generation. The elders feared that the Roselles, a species that grew similarly to her but started out as roses, would come and steal their children away, strip them of their shroom identity and raise them as Roselles. She spent years and years in that nursery, never being able to know her birth parents up until her tenth birthday.
The war had subsided long enough for there to be some order and peace within her home town. When she finally was able to meet her parents, she felt a little awkward at first but clung to them for dear life, feeling as if she had known them from birth and spent time with them instead of being taken care of by numerous nursery maids. While this was a joyous time for Shruma, it was also a fearful once once she asked the reason why she had to be hidden away, why she had never known them til then.
She was still a young child, so it was difficult for her to understand concepts of war and hatred. As fast as her time with her parents came was as fast as it left. She was sent back into the nursery once again up until the age of seventeen when she would emerge as a fully bloomed Shroom woman. They were still fearful for her safety, though, and ordered immediately that she leave the village. They gave her no other explanation other than that it was 'for her own good'. She was forced to give up her beloved shroom cap and dress more in the fashion of 'humans'.
She had no idea what humans looked like, and she was, frankly, shellshocked to see none of them had some sort of nature associated head adornment like her people did. It took her a while to adjust to living with these people, but she was somewhat getting it. She had been sent to live with a distant cousin of hers, one who had already been used to living in the human world for quite some while. He acted as her mentor and taught her everything she needed to know.
But there was always more that she wanted to learn, and Shruma, now going by Shima, had always managed to get herself into trouble because of that never ending curiosity. She would end up getting into bad sides of town, talking to the wrong people and almost being forced to do some dirty work. If it were not for her cousin to guide her away from the people who tried taking advantage of the naive girl, she would have lead a horrid, lascivious life.
As a sort of cover, her cousin managed to enroll her into a local culinary college after taking notice of her skills at cooking, despite not ever really doing so before when she was in the village. Shima adored it. She found it to be a wonderful use of nature's resources and always took the opportunity to cook something scrumptious up.
Fun Facts: She is allergic to the mushrooms human people eat, but not because of how she was born.
She loves animals and often can be found carrying a stray cat or puppy in her arms. Unfortunately, she can't keep them all but secretly does.
Her favorite insect is the butterfly, and the one in her hair is real, it just has a special ability of freezing itself in time and appearing fake.
